Chapter 81: Enforcer

Charlotte’s pov

She looked at me and smiled, “Please tell Sebastian that I am sorry” she said.

“Why? Why are you sorry? What happened back then Scarlet? How on earth did you get the blood mark curse?” I asked her.

“You know the answer, they incorporated something into their spell. But I found a weakness to the spell, find the weakness to the spell” she said and the disappeared.

“Are you okay Charlotte?” May asked and I looked at her confused.

What?

What happened just now?

How did I see her?

What is the weakness of the spell?

“I am okay” I said and then my eyes landed on Scarlet.

“What happening? Why is she turning into dust?” Sebastian asked panicking.

“I don’t know, what the hell? Why did she turn into dust when you touched her? She didn’t when Sebastian touched her” Alexa said.

“I don’t know why” I said, and we heard a chuckle from behind.

“Okay I get it, Scarlet was in that coffin, so who on earth was in the other?” Clara asked.

That is a good question, who else was in the other one?

“Is it that witch? Is it the same witch who has been working with Sasha?” Alexa asked.

“Yes it could be, there is only one way to know. Their belongings” I said and then went to the other coffin.

I looked at it, there was a box inside, I opened it and it was empty.

“Why is it empty? Who would be buried besides Scarlet?” David asked looking at Sebastian.

“I don’t know, it took me a long time to find where she was buried.

The witches kept it a secret.

After Scarlet died there was war, so It was hard to find out what happened and what was happening” Sebastian explained.

“So, you don’t know who was buried here?” Alexa asked.

“Yes, I don’t have a clue” Sebastian nodded.

“It’s okay, but sister you seemed lost in thought. Did you see anything because we called you out for some time” David said.

“Yes, you seemed like someone who was no longer here with us” Clara said.

“Ohhh yes I almost forgot, I saw Scarlet” I said and then looked at Sebastian.

“She told me to tell you that she is sorry and said that there is a weakness to the spell. She told me to find the weakness to the spell” I explained.

“She said she is sorry for what? She didn’t tell you the reason?” Sebastian asked and I shook my head.

“No, she didn’t tell me anything else, just that she is sorry and the weakness part” I explained, and he nodded.

“And then she disappeared, we still don’t even know how she could disappear” Alexa said shaking her head.

“That’s because she is Scarlet my dear, two people cant exist at the same time. You two are one in the same, if she existed then you wouldn’t, so now that you exist she doesn’t anymore” a woman said standing at the entrance.

We all turned around and found her standing there.

Her face was covered, “it’s her, it’s the witch that is helping them” Sebastian said.

“You said that we cant exist at the same time, you mean me and Scarlet” I asked her.

“Why are you talking as if you are two different people? You are her and she was you” she said.

That’s exactly what Scarlet said that we are the same person.

“You see your soul has been moving from one body to another. But you are still Scarlet Hale” the witch said.

“What are you doing here?” Clara asked her and she turned her eyes on Clara and then Sebastian.

 “I should be asking you three the same thing.

Don’t you know that a witch’s tomb is a sacred place that shouldn’t be tainted by abominations of nature” she said with so much venom in her voice.

“Who are you? Are the one who has been buried here with Scarlet?” I asked her and she laughed.

“I wasn’t buried, I was just merely sleeping” she said and then her eyes landed on me.

“Sleeping? What do you mean by sleeping?” May asked her.

“Exactly that, I was merely sleeping all this time. I am what is called an enforcer” she replied.

“An enforcer? I have heard about them, by aren’t those only for generational curses. You are put into a deep slumber and when someone of a cursed generation reaches a certain age you go and kill them. But mine is a soul curse, it follows me everywhere I go and doesn’t need an enforcer” I said.

“That is true, but I volunteered to be your enforcer” she answered with a relaxed voice.

“Wait but why? Why would you want such a fate on yourself, why did you choose to be an enforcer?” May asked her.

She then took off the mask that was hiding half of her face.

I couldn’t help but gasp when I saw her, I am not the only one who did.

She looks like an older version of me.

If I ever get a chance to grow old and age, I will look exactly like her.

“Mother” was all I could utter even when I didn’t know the reason why.

“Yes Scarlet, its me your mother. You don’t have your memories yet, but you remember me, I am so flattered” she answered, and her eyes landed on Sebastian.

“I see, now you have found each other. You are making this way too easy, hanging around with abominations” she said and then looked at Alexa.

“Well and you are still a bitch as always. How is it that so many centuries have passed, and I still can’t stand your face” Sebastian said, and my mother chuckled.

“Maybe it’s because I have been keeping you away from her centuries.

You should have seen the looks on your face every time when you found her dead.

This is what you deserve you abomination, you will watch her die over and over” she said.

There was so much hate in her eyes as she looked at me and then at Sebastian.

“That is the true curse, and I don’t mind sleeping for even more centuries just to ensure that you two are never together” she said.

“Wait a second? All this curse just because you don’t want the two of them to end up together?” Alexa asked.

“Isn’t more complicated than that?

How did Logan get tangled up in all this?

What the hell happened really?

Why are you doing all of this?” Clara asked.

“Exactly? Why would you curse your daughter just because you don’t like the man she is with?” David asked her.

 “I don’t owe any of you any apologies. Anyways it doesn’t matter, soon you will die once more. You will never be able to break this curse” she said and then walked away.

She disappeared without a trace, “that explains why she is so strong, she is old, about a thousand years old” May said shaking her head.

“So much hatred, what kind of mother is she? I honestly wish we never meet her again” Alexa said.

“Don’t worry sister, we will break this curse no matter what.

First you need to get back your memories” David said.

“She didn’t do anything, why didn’t she kill you herself and get it over and done with?” Sebastian asked.

“Maybe she has another grand plan of killing her own daughter.

ohhh I really can’t stand her" Alexa said.

“Sister are you okay? You have been awfully quiet” David said, and I nodded.

There was an emotion I saw on my mother’s face that I can’t seem to get it off my mind.

“I am fine, it’s probably nothing” I said.

“Let’s get out of here, it is giving me the creeps” May said and we started getting out.

What was that emotion I saw and why can’t I seem to get it out of my mind?

My own mother, how can I be so unlucky when it comes to parents.

Why did my own mothers have to hunt me down to kill me?

Did I do something wrong; did I really do something to deserve all of this?

When we got home May and I started working on the spell, but it didn’t work.

It wasn’t working no matter how hard we tried.

“Why isn’t it working? How is it possible that its not working?” David asked pacing around.

“We did everything right; we performed the spell well then why isn’t working?” May said groaning in frustration.

“Just relax for now, you will try again tomorrow. It’s been a long day, now we know a few things and don’t have any more questions. We now know who the witch is” Sebastian said.

“It is true, today some of the questions have been answered. But now I have even more questions, what is the weakness of the spell?” I asked.

And there is that one more question, what was that emotion in her eyes?
