How Hard?

Rachael's POV

When I saw the tiny bit of sun creep in through the tiny window, I heaved a sigh of relief. I wasn't myself through the night. I couldn't sleep a wink because I kept getting the image of myself being smothered in my sleep. I wasn't being paranoid, it could likely happen in prison. One of the women was awake too, staring at me at intervals, probably waiting for me to sleep. She had a book in front of her, but I was certain she wasn't reading it because she had been on the same page for hours.

“Good morning Anderson," the same lady said from her bed and I froze. I didn't want to give her a response. If I didn't, maybe she would get the cue that I wasn't interested in mingling with her and would leave me alone.

I tossed to the other side of the bed and I heard her say. “Rude"

I scoffed but didn't give her a response. It was ruder to stare at someone like a freak all night.
