Chapter Forty

We followed her into the changing room. There was a gigantic mirror in it, and behind us were empty shelves.

"I will be back," she said, rushing out.

"You do know that I do not need any of these; I have not finished wearing the ones you bought," I whispered.

He smiled and said, "It does not matter; I love to spoil you."

"Spoil me, yes, but do not waste money," I snapped at him.

He pulled me into his hands and kissed my forehead.

"I have more than I can spend, and spending money on you makes me happy. So stop making me feel bad."

I smiled, then wrapped my hand around his neck.

"Thank you," I said, then took his mouth in a kiss.

We kissed until the saleswoman started coughing behind us. When we disengaged, I looked away, too shy to be caught kissing someone in the dressing room, but he did not seem to mind.

She dropped the clothes on the hanger, then some other things on the shelves behind us. She went out again to get other dresses, and I picked one of the dresses. The price tag on it
