“Stop thinking,” I whispered to myself, barely aware that I had said anything.

I couldn't be the only one who hated how our hearts often made life harder for us. This was a pretty simple issue; I liked Bella a lot, but she was in a serious relationship so there was no chance that we would ever be a thing.

End of story, right? Well, if only it were that easy.

Now, don't get me wrong, I actually liked Ada as a friend, but I had to be honest with myself. I really liked her and would like for us to be more than friends—if, of course, she wasn't in a relationship. But sadly, that wasn't the case.

I left the room and went to the living room. Grandma, Mrs. Miller, and Johnny were in the living room talking about one thing—the last Xiray that, for some obscure reason, hadn't come yet.

“We can't keep staying here,” Mrs. Miller said, her legs crossed before her. “I say we give it a day or two at most, and then head for our respective homes.”
