96. KEEP IN CHECK

MONICA’S POV

I spent two good days in the police’s detention before Marcus could come for me. He was away on a business trip to another country and immediately he heard of my predicament from his secretary, he took the next available flight back to Lisbon without hesitation.

“You have now been granted a bail but note that the rules attached are that you cannot leave the country without permission until your case has been sorted out. You are to respond to every summons as swift as possible. Failure to abide by all these rules will make you qualified for immediate arrest without a warrant so make sure to keep to them” the police officer listed to me as he brought me the bail form where I was in the detention room

“I know all that. You don’t need to spit all over me so pass me the paper” I spat out and reached for the form

“You can sign here” the police officer said, ignoring what I had said to him

“Who came for me? The lawyers?” I asked as I signed the form and Marcus came into the room
