52. REGRETS

We ran in silence all the way through. Dante at that point surely was just moving on the last of his energy, carrying my ass so we could be faster. There were so many things that I wanted to say but found my lips glued together, the trees flying away with the miles eaten. My head lay against his chest, feeling my heart heavy. I wanted to cry but not sure what I would be crying for. I just held onto him because he was all I had as we ran through the night and morning to get to our land.

We got there in the next evening, silence meeting us when we went through the border. We did not know if the dragons had already burned through our people yet as we got closer to the castle, were relieved to not find blood littering the court yard.

From where we were coming from, it was the total opposite. Nothing but dread, death and sorrow clogged the air. Darkness crawled all through the whole royal village with cold seeping through to my bone. I was sat down with me nodding my head to thank the king
