CHAPTER: EIGHT

ARYA'S POV

I took the job because I needed it and because the pay was good, no lie; I had to help my father, but when I met with Emily the following day, I was shocked to learn that Leo knew about it and that he was mad. The question is, why was he mad at me for taking the job?

I wanted to call him, but I was skeptical about it. What if I gave him a bad impression of me? So, I focused on reading for my final exams and waiting for him to call. I hadn’t heard from him for two days, and it kind of felt weird that I hadn’t. I was highly hoping he would call after the moment we shared, the gift, and everything that happened since my birthday.

“Are you okay, honey?” My father asked that evening as we watched TV together.

“Yes, I am a good dad; why would you think otherwise?” I asked obliviously.

“I don’t know, the look on your face and that frown say it all; you know you can always talk to me about anything, you know that, right?”
