Chapter 50

Two days later, Rebecca was still thinking about everything Lidia said. She had held it together until they had pulled out of the driveway before she burst into tears. Vincent had placed his hand on her thigh to comfort her. He didn’t remove it the whole way and he held her hand on the elevator too. But as soon as they got into the apartment, Rebecca shook him off and walked to her old room shutting and locking the door. She spent the rest of the day in there not coming out to even eat no matter how much Vincent begged. The next day she came out but didn’t say much unless she was spoken to. Vincent tried hard to get her to talk. To show his love and support, he didn’t leave her side for the whole day waiting for her to want to talk or need him for anything else. He apologized for his sisters' words but she didn’t want to hear it. She was waiting for him to really think about what Lidia had said and decide that he believed her.
