41. Not So Friendly Match.

"When did you learn how to code like that?" James's deep husky boomed, catching me off guard and I almost laughed out loud at his question as he walked up the staircase still carrying me in his arms like a damsel in distress.

I smirked mischievously, "Been doing it since I was a kid until I became a master at it," I said, playing with my fingers.

He darted at me for a brief moment and then continued ascending the staircase with a leopard's grace, “I see. Anyway, thanks for handling the cyber threat. I was at Lucy's funeral and I had turned off my mindlink and cell not to be disturbed.”

My heart sank remembering Lucy's untimely death. I felt like it was my fault she wasn't with us right now. "Not to worry, I took care of it," I sighed softly feeling a heartache brewing within me…

A few minutes later, we reached our bedroom then James gently placed me on our bed before he removed his black jacket and sat next to me with slumped shoulders. I knew something serious was up.
