Over Before It Even Began

It was late at night before Brixlee regained her consciousness. As her eyes fluttered open, she could feel the familiar comfort of the room. Nathan was seated at the edge of the bed with a worried look on his face. When he saw that Brixlee had regained consciousness, he immediately sat up and asked, "What happened, Brixlee? Are you alright?"

Brixlee got into a sitting postion and took a deep breath. She knew that she had to tell him the truth, no matter how difficult it was.

"I was kidnapped," she said, her voice shaking. "I was tied up in a room and left there for hours. I managed to escape, but I don't know where I am now."

Nathan's eyes widened with shock and sympathy, not sure how to reply to the terrible news."Oh my god, Brixlee. I'm so sorry. Can you tell me anything about the kidnapper or where you were held?"

Brixlee shook her head. "No, I didn't see anything or anyone. It was dark, and the room was quiet. I just don't want to think about it."
