Nyx POV

I had no idea what came over me, but one moment I was staring into Narek’s eyes, watching him as he pronounced the words in the spell and the next I felt a warm sensation flood my chest. Narek looked…different.

He always had this hard exterior whenever I was around, but the way he taught me seemed real. Like he was finally being himself. Like he had finally let down his guard.

His shoulders were less tense, his eyes were softer and even his forehead had lost its frown wrinkles.

There was something about the way his lips moved that was so…mesmerizing.

“Got it?” Narek asked me, after making the right pronunciation of the spell and I nodded, even though I wasn’t sure I’d gotten it entirely. I was just so distracted by how close he was to me. His face was so close to me and I realized that I didn’t think much about how he looked until that moment.
