Jeremy wanted to laugh, and then he wanted to cry. Jacob thought he was the Alpha of the pack? That would mean that the lad knew of his existence before now. But how? “Are you expecting any one?” Jeremy asked Mallory and Sarah, his eyes darting to the door which the butler stood by now. Sarah shook her head. “Not at all. You are the only visitor that we expected today. Kolen, who is that?” The butler turned around with a blank expression on his face. “The Alpha’s messenger.” Sarah withdrew into her seat, after a shared glance with her mate. The duo looked at the ancients next. “You can let him in.” Enoch said, and immediately the butler opened the door wider, and the Alpha’s messenger stepped into the room. No one saw Jacob move. No one except the ancients that all had smirk on their faces when Jacob was suddenly in the face of Jackson, when Jacob was suddenly lifting the Alpha up from his seat whilst choking him with a death grip on the latter’s neck. Lisa had fallen to the ground out of fright and shock, an event which pleased Zande no great deal. For an added flourish, she swept Lisa’s hand which had been supporting the latter’s weight on the ground, off the ground, such that Lisa plummeted down the stairs, her head hitting hard on the polished floor. Mallory soughed, inclined himself deeper into his seat, and tapped his mate. “You are a better narrator. I’m sure you should take over.” Mallory was aware that his mate was still getting over the fact that they might lose Jacob, as they had lost Olivera, but he believed that talking about it might help her get over the impending loss quickly. Jacob wasn’t their son. They had just been caretakers, and they had failed in that duty twice. They won’t fail the third time. Sarah sighed, wanting to rebuff the request, wanting to refuse, but knowing that doing so wouldn’t speak well of her character. She didn’t want to talk about how she had gotten the kids however, it was like solidifying the reality that Jacob would leave her. Why would he come back again?
