chapter twenty-four

ALESSANDRO’S POV

Seeing the heavy traffic and knowing I had less than five minutes to get to Isabella or she would be killed. I had only one option, break the traffic rule. Or maybe I wouldn’t really be breaking it. I reached for the emergency siren which I always carried with me just in case of moments like this and placed on top of my car. I wound up my car, then I hit the road blaring my horn and having the cars paved way for me to pass through.

I drove crazily like I had never done with my adrenaline almost bursting open.

But I was surprised to see chief’s car sped past as I made to swerve into the main road that would be leading me to the facility house. I was certain he couldn’t tell it was me as he hadn’t seen me in this particular car.

Seeing him weakened me. It could only mean one thing; Isabella was already dead. I wondered if I should just turn around and head home. I couldn’t save her. I wish I had learned of this earlier.

But a text stirred me back on. It was from Mattia
