My heart was racing all through that morning as I still hadn't heard from Troy ever since. It had me wondering if that was a diplomatic way of saying it was all over.

Even worse, I feared he was in some sort of trouble that made him unable to reach out to me. But then, I looked at my phone one more time and he had just been online a few moments ago.

I hated that his lack of response was beginning to get to me, regardless of how much I tried to hide it.

“Need a ride to school…? Your ride is taking too long to appear. You might be late before he gets here.” Aiden asked as I was about to step out of the front door. There were a lot of things about that offer that seemed quite suspicious.

“Sorry, but I think I'll pass,” I said, not looking at him for a single moment as he made his way to his car.

The excited smile he had on his face had me feeling somewhat angry. Somewhere in my mind, I believe he wasn't supposed to be happy without having gotten my forgiveness. But there he was
