Chapter 27

James POV

The next day, Abigail, Emily, Charlotte, and Mary Jane arrived around mid-morning. Aunt Esther, Mary and the twins showed up only an hour later. Introductions were made once again, and all of us men disappeared, claiming we had work to do. Everyone came back together for an early supper, Aunt Esther insisted and I couldn’t figure out why. It wasn’t until after supper, when we were all sitting around the table, and I had Hannah in my lap, that I was clued in to the reason for an earlier meal.

“Hannah, go grab what you need for tomorrow. You will be coming back to town with us tonight,” Aunt Esther’s voice was firm.

“Excuse me,” I declared. “Why?”

“It’s tradition for the groom to not see the bride at any time after midnight on her wedding day. And, Hannah deserves to experience all of the traditions,” Aunt Esther smirked
