Mending trust

Natalia's POV

Two days passed, and we didn't witness such killings. We had no idea if the person behind it was just lying low or maybe it was just the measures that Aaron put in place that helped. I just wanted everyone to be safe, and the guilty party caught and exposed.

That morning, I decided to go check on Courtney. I had tried talking to her a few times in the last few days. She did not totally ignore me like before, but she was not as free with me as she was anymore, which I didn't blame her for. I had broken her trust, and I knew that it was stupid of me.

I went to the kitchen and made two mugs of coffee. I then took it to her room. I knocked twice, before letting myself inside.

I met her lying on the bed, facing away from the door and wrapped in a blanket. This had been her life since she found out about Aaron and I. She was always quiet and isolated, and it hurt me deeply that I was the cause.
