Correcting the Child

Diane's POV

If I thought the lady's cheeks were flushed, mine was competing with tomatoes in color.

"Oh my God, Owen!" I gasped covering my mouth in shock.

The entire restaurant went silent as if everyone had been listening to our conversation.

Sophie dropped her head to the ground, unable to look at me or the boy. Lucas had eyes expanded in shock and Lucius —I didn't even want to turn to see what he looked like.

Yet, the culprit himself was very happy. He giggled and clapped his hands.

"Please control your child," the lady repeated before scurrying away from us like we were a plague.

It felt like a slap on my face. I wanted to defend Owen but we were all guilty. Well, not all of us but Sophie. She was the one who said the word but for some reason, I didn't want to say it out loud in front of the boys.

I got up and carried Owen with me, "Come with me," and I started heading to the elevator.

No one stopped me from leaving, but I could feel their eyes on us as we moved.
