Lucius's POV

I raised my hand in anger to her approaching figure and she stopped with an awkward smile.

"My love," she stuttered.

"I am not your love and I will never be Jolynn. What the hell are you even doing here?" I hissed, my wolf pushing to the surface as it growled in front of her.

"Doing your job, Alpha Lucius!" A deep voice suddenly filled the courtyard.

I turned around to find her father, walking toward us with confident strides.

"What are you talking about?" I gawked at him.

At the back of my mind, I knew that Lucas and I had practically abandoned the pack to rule itself for a long while. But I never gave her the job —if at all she did it.

"The guards are watching. The council is inside, who knows they might have spies everywhere. Let's walk my King," he said as he got closer.

I felt cornered.

As much as I wanted to ignore him and just burst through the conference doors, I couldn't do it.
