Bad news for King Edor

“Your Grace?!” I look up from the paperwork on my desk.

“What is it?” I ask with a frown. They know I don’t want to be disturbed, but here we are.

“The Queen is asking for your presence in the throne room.” He says with a bow, and it takes everything in me not to scream in frustration. Ever since that awful Wolf King was here Briell and Asthi have been insufferable. Briell doesn’t shut up about the unfairness of her stepsister being his mate, and how it should be her as his Queen, and Ashti has tried to find out why I was so reluctant to let my stepdaughter go. She doesn’t need to know, which I have implored in everyone who knows just a smidge about my plans with Ivy.

“I am busy.” I say, dismissing him with a handwave. He opens his mouth, but apparently thinks better of it and leaves the office. Good for him, or I would have turned him into something nasty.
