" I am so glad you could make it, " Lucille said while pulling me into a warm embrace. I did my best to not tense, afraid that Killian might notice how uncomfortable I was. He hadn't taken his eyes off me since I arrived, I didn't know whether to feel flattered or nervous

" Of course, don't worry about it. My brother-in-law was excited to meet you, so I had to get you two together somehow?"

" Asher is excited to meet me?" The confusion in my voice was evident. I thought the reason why Lucille invited me was because Killian asked her to, and she had no other choice than to go through with it.
