Chapter Twenty-One

It was the early hours of Sunday and Lucas sat quietly in his seat on the plane, staring out the window, his mind a blur of memories and emotions. He had left the Willowdale Founder's Day celebration a few hours ago and was heading to Mystic Pines, his hometown in Louisiana, to see his pack and honour them as was his tradition. It was after all, the anniversary of their deaths, of the day he let them down.

As the plane began to taxi down the runway, the captain's voice crackled over the intercom breaking him out of his thoughts.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. This is your captain speaking. We are currently cruising at an altitude of 36,000 feet and are on schedule to arrive in Louisiana at 5:45 AM. The current weather is clear and we should have a smooth flight. Thank you for flying with us."

Lucas sighed and leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes. He knew he was going to be a wreck very soon as the pain of his loss was already feeling very fresh all over again.
