Chapter 18

Arabella's POV

My heart raced as I heard Ava's words. My grip on the sink tightened, and I tried to control my breathing, not wanting to make a sound. She couldn't be talking about me, could she? I leaned in slightly to listen more carefully, hoping to catch any more information.

"He's been so focused on her. I think he's trying to stabilize his position," Ava continued, her tone filled with frustration. "I'll do whatever I can and once I'm in control, I'll deal with that Arabella girl. Then I'll find a more suitable way for Asher to leave."

My hands trembled, and I clasped them together to steady myself. Her words sank in, and my mind raced with fear and disbelief. Why would she want to harm me? I barely knew her, and I certainly hadn't done anything to her or her family.
