Lucien’s POV
I stood up front, Damien and Ethan on either side of me only a few steps behind. I had called for a meeting, promising to only bring two others with me but of course, I had others in the tree line waiting. I’m sure the rogue group was doing the same.
Hearing movement I looked forward seeing two men walking toward us. The leader was behind them but as the two stopped he made his way forward. I frowned, the man looked familiar although I knew for a fact that I’d never seen him before.
“You wanted to talk,” the stranger said, “so talk.”
I arched my brow, “nothing to talk about really. You have something that belongs to me and I want it back?”
The stranger nodded a smirk appearing on his face, “would you be talking about your mate or your child?”
“You know exactly what I’m talking about rogue,” I hissed. “Don’t try and play games with me.
Nikko’s POVIt well almost 3 am when I made it back to the caves and I had assumed Samantha would be passed out. I had assumed wrong. She was sitting with her legs crossed at the foot of her bed almost like she had been when I had left her earlier. The moment she saw me she jumped up.“What happened? Is everyone ok?”I nodded moving into the room to sit at the foot of her bed and patted the spot beside me. “Everything is fine. Come sit down.”Taking his outstretched had I moved to sit beside him trying to gauge his mood. “So did you tell them? What did they say? Nikko you can’t come in here all quiet and shit.”My lips moved into a smile as I turned to look at her. “I just had one of the hardest conversations in my life and you are rushing me?”The look of shock that crossed Samantha’s features made me laugh even as I leaned back laying on her bed. Staring up at the ceiling of
Sam’s POVI was nervous as I followed behind Nikko to meet Lucien and his pack. It was almost as if I was the outsider now. How would I feel seeing Lucien again? Was he back to his normal self? Nikko seemed to think so although I wasn’t so sure. I had yet to hear his voice in my head. Was it because he wasn’t calling out for me? We had been in the caves long enough that he should have been able to.“Lucien?” I sent it out as a question, one I wasn’t sure he would answer.“I’m here. Are you ok?”His voice in my head comforted me more than I realized it would. It was almost like the feeling of coming home after a long day. “I’m fine. Are you ok?”“I’m back to normal if that is the question. No more talking. Concentrate. I don’t know what will happen.”I felt him break our connection and I tugged at Nikko, “h
Lucien’s POVNo one moved, no one knew what to do. So far the entire pack was obeying my command. My father was yelling hysterically angry that no one was listening to him. Nikko’s pack was standing fast behind him watching us for any sudden movements.Looking up I caught Nikko’s eye. “The men are uneasy. Will your men accept a temporary truce while we talk?”Nikko nodded, “they will do whatever I command they are loyal. Can you control your father?”I shook my head, “good question. Be ready.”As Nikko nodded I turned around looking at my pack. “We are under a temporary truce. Ethan, Raze and I will meet with Nikko and two of his men at the office. No one is allowed to attack. No one is to make a move unless it comes from me.”“Why don’t you just hand over the pack? You will have us slaughtered.”
Samantha’s POVDamien and I sat on the porch looking out at the night waiting on any word from Lucien. The night was quiet but my mind was full of voices, voices that were not my own. I couldn’t place them, I couldn’t quiet them down. I was exhausted and it was starting to show.“The treaty has been signed,” Damien said looking over at me as he pushed the swing back off with his feet.“No war?”Damien shook his head, “not with Nikko, dad however is still unclear.”Frowning I looked up at the mood, “is Lucien really back normal?”Once again Damien shook his head, “yes. He snapped out of it the moment he sensed you were in danger. I think Nikko might have knocked him down a peg or two by taking you. Lucien has always thought he was untouchable.”
Samantha’s POV“Excuse me, what did you just say?” I looked at Lucien as if he had lost his mind.Things had started off fine this morning. We had made our way downstairs and I was in the middle of cooking breakfast when I decided to ask him about the treaty. I don’t know for sure if it was the way he kept trying to dodge the question or the fact that we were still alone in the house but I knew there was more to the story than he was telling me.“There is a clause in the treaty that states neither pack can cross into the other’s territory without starting a war.”Once again he said it just like he was saying it was going to rain this afternoon. “Lucien he is your brother. Don’t you want to get to know him?”“No,” Lucien said looking up at me. “He seems decent enough for a rouge but there is nothing to tie me to him, Sam.”Shaking my head I turned my back on h
Lucien's POVAs we walked back to her house I kept stealing glances at Sam, her tear-streaked face brought pain to me every single time. Don't get me wrong, my inner wolf was furious at her. He was ready to snap but I couldn't. I would never turn on her again. I had control of my inner wolf, not the other way around. He obeyed me, for without me there was no him.Jax was standing on the porch awaiting us. "Did you get it," I asked?Nodding Jax handed over a worn leather journal, his eyes focused on my poor Luna who was obviously distressed. We had to figure this out. I didn't need my dad's rendition, I needed to read the vision in Violet's own hand.Walking up the steps Sam and I set on the porch swing and I handed over the journal to her. "This is every single one of your Aunt's visions. Some were incomprehensible and made no sense to anyone but her. Some have come true. The pack believed in her abilities and take her word as fact. I have no idea w
Samantha’s POVSeeing the tears in Lucien’s eyes was my undoing. Even in his own pain he wrapped his arms around me and held me until it was time for him to go. As he left I clutched Aunt Violet’s journal to my chest, I was determined to learn more about her. Maybe I could even decipher some of the visions others couldn’t.“I love you,” I sent Lucien as he reached the tree line.Turning back to look at me his voice appeared in my head, “I love you too. My Luna. My moon.”As he disappeared behind the dense trees I wiped more tears from my eyes. Lucien loved me, he loved me even after my betrayal to him. I would have lost my mind if he had told me he had kissed another girl but he, he had accepted it for what it was and moved on.Walking inside the house I went and made a cup of coffee before I opened Aunt Violet’s journal. Her handwriting was at times hard to read. She wrote wit
Samantha’s POVI sat on the swing looking out at the woods. I knew he was coming, I could feel him. The sun had set leaving nothing put stars to light up the night, the moon was nowhere to be seen. I wondered where Lucien was, I could feel him but he wasn’t approaching. Why would he send Nikko to me?The minute Nikko broke through the tree lines I felt a little twinge of excitement and I had to ball my hands at my side to not rush up to him. It was important for me that things go smoothly for him, I didn’t want him to lose everything he had gained because of me. Yet still, as he walked closer to me our eyes connected and that same forbidden bond was there. It drove me crazy. This place was turning me into someone I wasn’t and it scared me. Nikko paused at the foot of the steps looking up at me. “Are you ok?”I nodded unbarring my fits at my side, “yes. No. I don’t know Nikko I’m confused.”
