105-Drunken apparitions.

“You’re hiding something, aren’t you?”

I paled and snapped my head up from a random book I was reading on Zena’s bed. She was perched in the middle of her bed, her brows raised skeptically.

“Hm?” I thinned my lips.

“You’re hiding something.”

I heard her the first time. I was just hit by the suddenness of her question when all we’ve been doing was reading and exchanging a few words. However, I couldn’t deny the fact that I could barely focus on the book I was reading and only pretended to be so immersed in it so I wouldn’t have to look at Zena and have her tell something was wrong without even seeing me.

“No, of course not.” I finally answered after a few seconds of contemplating what the best answer to give Zena would be. I tried to keep my voice steady and also forced a smile. She didn’t seem convinced as her expression still doesn’t change.

“I don’t believe you.” She said.

I tried to be as convincing as I could, giving her my full attention.
