Twenty Four

Calla’s POV

The sun had fully set, and darkness took over from there. Only the lights from streetlights cut through its thick blanket, I stood by the side of the road, waiting for a cab to drive by.

I stood there for about 10 minutes but there was no sign of any vehicle coming my way. Most of the people that were in the park came with their cars, and the rest that did not drive moved on their feet to their destination.

I saw no need waiting so I joined the others who were going in my direction. I will turn back occasionally to see if a cab is coming.

One by one, our group number began to dwindle as people diverted to other roads, at crossroads or their houses not too far from the main road.

At the end, I was the only one left and fear began to creep into me. So, I increased my pace and walked faster.

I walked alone in the dark of the night, the cool breeze sending chills down my spine.
