Now we had another enemy on our trail. It was even terrible because he was not an outsider but it was a memento member of my pack, and someone we considered family.

"I'm sorry for that. My brother can be anything but I don't think he is capable of taking the life of anyone," Katherine apologized on behalf of Kalvin.

"That is no longer the brother you know," I said to Katherine as she gave me an uncertain look. "He has killed someone and he meant what he said."

"That can't be true," Katherine replied instantly.

"I saw his eyes, Katherine. They were blue instead of gold. The funny thing about werewolves is that you can tell if this had killed someone before or not. The eyes of the innocent ones are always gold but when they take a life their eyes turn blue," I said.

"No, that can't be true," Katherine said, shaking her head in disbelief. I could smell fear engulf her. I knew that she was afraid of starting a war with her own brother.
