The sand timer

I was on my bed in my lodge when my alarm began buzzing. I opened my eyes as I turned my gaze to the wall clock.

"Ten o'clock," I mumbled, as I heaved a sharp sigh then faced the ceiling again. I was supposed to meet Eddie by twelve o'clock today so I had two hours to be prepared for whatever comes after our meeting.

I heaved another sharp sigh as I turned my face right to the blue bracelet which Silas had given me last night. It was resting on my bedside cupboard.

I haven't decided if I was going to take it along with me yet, because I still can't understand why someone who was trying to kill me would bring a gift to me.

I read his mind and all I knew was that whatever reason he handed the bracelet to me must have been for protection. This was the first time I was doubting my perception.

I can't trust them. I thought to myself.
