Chapter 73 | Doors

I watch as Violet tries to tear down the magic that keeps this hidden door so guarded. While she does this, I keep an eye on the hallway we came from and occasionally, I watch her. Unfortunately, I haven’t been around magic much, I can’t tell if anything she is doing is actually helping whatever this is going on.

She’s working hard though, I can see the sweat dripping from her face from the strength of the exertion and concentration this required. Every time she thought she did it, her face brightened, only for her to growl as she ran into a new obstacle.

We’ve been in here for over an hour. I’m not concerned about us getting caught, there’s no activity in the house and if this leads to Violet’s mom then I think Xavier Black is the only one that comes down here and he won’t be back for hours.

My shoulders straighten as I hear Phoenix whisper yelling my name, “Charlie! Violet!”
