Kaylee's P.O.V.

I kept my eyes on Parker's face as I held my arm out to him, leaning back against the bookcase closest to the door. I knew that if I looked down at the needle, I would lose my nerve.

His touch was soft, gentle. I barely felt the small piece of metal as he slid it into my inner elbow. I knew it was there though and that was enough to send my mind running. The haziness had just started to lessen, but the pinch of my skin breaking had it all coming back.

I was waiting for them to pull out another set of chains. Silver bands that would hold me down to the chair, the same as they had done to my alleged brother.

"You're doing great," Parker whispered as he continued to work. His gaze stayed down, but I kept my stare on his beautiful brown eyes. He was a welcome distraction, the only one that I had ever found to effectively ground me.
