Once in the room, he has me sit on the exam table and tells me to lay back and relax. Zek ensures my head lands on the pillow, and suddenly, my nerves spike. I hear the doctor roll up a cart with several tools rattling on it. My hand darts out and catches Zek’s arm as he turns to leave. I hold tight, not allowing him to go, and he turns and sits in the chair beside the exam table, placing his hand on mine and giving it a gentle squeeze.
I feel the doctor open my eyes wider and brightness flashes in front of each eye. No doubt he is checking my pupil dilation. I hear him place that back and he clears his throat.
“Luna, I am going to give you a steroid and see if it affects anything. I will need you to roll onto your side as the shot will be administered on your back.”
