Chapter 63: The Parting

I was woken up by mommy shaking me awake. I rubbed my tired eyes and looked at her curiously. Why is she waking me up so early?

I turned to Devyn, who was still sleeping soundly, and prepared to wake him up too. However, my mommy stopped me.

“Don’t wake him up yet, bub. I just need to talk to you about something, okay? Let’s go to the other room.” My mommy carried me while I laid my head on her shoulder. I held tightly onto her while we went to daddy’s room. I could feel that something was wrong because mommy seemed sad.

She placed me down on daddy’s bed and looked at me with sad eyes.

I touched her cheek and looked at her with concern, “Are you okay, mommy? Why are you sad?”

“I’m going to tell you something, hmm? Can you promise me that you would be okay with it?”
