CHAP 24

The fear returned to my chest as Miro approached us; he was behind Konnor, locking each of his hands there. My attention immediately turned to Cleon when he slowly stood up. I was supporting him when he almost fell. Yes, I had a plan to let him die, but not this way. As much as possible, I don't want to be chased by my conscience, so even though I have doubts about him, I'm still looking for clear proof. Stupidity? Maybe that's what I have.

My eyes widened as Cleon quickly grabbed Konnor's collar, followed by unleashing a powerful punch to his jaw. Konnor fell down, and the fear reached my chest because of the fear that he might retaliate against Cleon, but that didn't happen. He just grinned, obviously mocking.

"You broke the rules, Konnor," Cleon said deeply and firmly.

Konnor smirked, then slowly stood up and faced Cleon. "I'm sorry, I just got lost, and I didn't know she was marked already."
