Willow
The uneasiness grows, settling in the pit of my stomach as he watches the nurse change my dressing.
He asks questions like a caring husband would. Only I knew the truth. I already could tell what kind of sick bastard he was. It was his way or no way.
“When can I leave?” I ask as the nurse gives my bandage a final check
The mousy haired woman smiles at the arsehole and tells him instead of me. “Maybe tomorrow if the doctor is happy with everything.”
“That’s brilliant. Then I can take you home.” Alpha Zane smiles at me before he goes back to eyeballing Angela.
“Really?” I mutter when she leaves. “Claiming to be my husband, yet checking out the nurse.”
“Do you have a problem with me checking her out, little wolf?” He cocks a brow at me. The corners of his lips curving up into a smirk.
I don’t respond. He could do whatever or whoever he wanted as long as he stayed away from me.
“Tomorrow you will join Night Watch.” He announces
I snort and fold my arms across my chest.
“You will be where I can keep an eye on you.”
“You really expect me to stay in your poxy pack?” I sneer at him. I had no intention of staying there.
“Have you heard of Night Watch?”
I shake my head, I didn’t actually care for any packs. Not since my father’s pack.
He smiles, “We are five thousand strong. And that’s just counting the warriors.”
Shit. Most packs had a thousand at most. There would be too many eyes on me. My chances of escaping were quickly disappearing.
“I can tell by your face that those numbers make you happy.” He muses
“No,” I mutter. “The challenge just became more interesting.”
He glares at me, but keeps his mouth shut.
Hours pass and he remains silent. Sometimes his eyes would become more greyish when he was linking others. Other times, he was just watching me, making me more and more annoyed.
When the doctor came to check my wound, I hoped that I could give him a sign to show that the wolf sitting by my bed was holding me hostage. But like any typical man, the doctor ignores me. Telling me what a good husband Mister Hallow is.
“He’s not my husband!” I snap.
The male doctor looks over to Alpha Zane. “She’s certainly not happy with you is she?”
“She blames me for her clumsiness.” Alpha Zane mutters back with a small smile. “Though she doesn’t seem to appreciate that I have been sitting by her bed for four days.”
The doctor laughs. Giving me even more of a reason to hate men. Why did they always have to team up?
“It looks like you are good to go.” The Doctor smiles at me.
“Today? The nurse said tomorrow?” I mutter. I hadn’t even thought of how I was going to get away from the madman. I had been too busy seething.
“I’m happy with everything, let me grab the papers and then you will be free to go.”
Alpha Zane signs the papers on my behalf. When the doctor leaves, the Alpha places some jeans and a sweatshirt on the bed with some black lace underwear.
“Get dressed.”
He resettles in the chair and watches me.
“Privacy?”
He laughs, “You have already shown me your body. And you must be mistaken if you think I’m letting you out of my sight.”
I keep my back to him and carefully remove the gown. I feel his eyes burning into my back
“Enjoying the show!” I snap pulling on the underwear.
“You have a birthmark?” He asks quietly
“Can you see one?” I snap. “You are all for stating the obvious, aren’t you?”
He doesn’t answer me. I don’t hear him move either, but I feel his closeness. Inches away from my body. His body radiates warmth as his scent of oak and maple invades my senses. He was too close, it was making me feel things that I shouldn’t feel.
I tense up, when his fingers touch my lower back. Slowly, he traces the outer edges of the birthmark on the bottom of my spine.
“Not everything is an attack.” He murmurs in my ear, “Now finish getting dressed.”
I pull on the jeans while gritting my teeth. And tug the sweatshirt on. Turning around, I glare at him. But he isn’t even looking at me. His eyes are grey again. I wanted to know who he was talking to.
When they return to black, he smiles at me. “Let’s go home.”
Home? Really? Did he think I would come willingly if he called it home?
His eyes settle on my bare feet. He cocks a brow and looks at the trainers still on the bed.
“I prefer to be barefoot.” I declare as I fold my arms.
“You mean so you can run?” He smiles at me and shakes his head. “I caught you once, I will catch you again, little wolf. And again and again. No matter how many times you try to run, I will find you.”
My stomach ties itself up in knots, but I wasn’t afraid. “Challenge accepted.”
He smiles back at me, showing me those sharp pointed canines. It made him look menacing.
“Oh little wolf, you have no idea who you are dealing with.”In the car, he keeps one hand on my leg at all times. Anytime I pulled it away, he would pull me right back.
The same guy from before was driving the car. If I was going to escape, I needed as many details as I could get.
I lean forward between the seats, much to the Alpha’s annoyance. “I’m Willow.”
He takes his eyes off the road briefly to look at me. His eyes are a dazzling blue, I had never seen anything like them. His blonde hair is cropped short like the Alpha’s, only he had a shaved pattern on the sides. I much preferred to look at him than the Alpha. He seemed more welcoming.
“Beta Ash Stevens.” He smiles at me. “Everyone calls me Stevens”
“Sit back!” Alpha Zane demands.
I roll my eyes at him. He still had hold of my leg so it wasn’t like I was going anywhere.
“How long have you been…..” I’m ripped backwards and met with the darkest glare I had ever seen.
“I know what you are doing Willow. And I won’t put up with it. Do you understand?”
“You don’t own me. I can talk to whoever I want!” He really needed to be taken down a peg or two.
He doesn’t speak and the rest of the car ride is spent in silence, giving me a chance to plot all of my escape ideas. It sounded like I was going to need lots if I was going to have even the smallest chase of escaping.
WillowLarge black gates sit in front of us. They are easily twenty feet tall, and looked like they were trying to keep people in as much as keep something out. Two black wolves sat either side of the gates. I had never been to a pack where they would guard in their wolf form. It was off putting. Their sense of smell would be stronger. They would be faster too. From the corner of my eye, I see the Alpha watching me. A smug smile on his face. He already knew I was planning on running. And he knew I had just encountered another problem. The black wolves move to the car, sniffing all around. They pause by the door on my side and one stands on its hind legs to look in through the window at me. It’s brown eyes studying me for a moment.“She’s mine.” Alpha Zane mutters as he winds down my window“Mine? Who the hell do you think you are?!” I snap.He grins as the wolves move back to their original position and the gates begin to open. Stevens restarts the car, creeping it through the openin
WillowIt takes me a few minutes to pull myself together. I wasn’t someone who cried. I preferred to push all my feelings down until I could no longer feel them. Yet he dragged it out of me so fucking easily?Pushing away from him, I lower my face, waiting for the tears to stop as I try to force everything back in.He doesn’t speak yet I feel his dark eyes on me, roaming my body as he decides his next move.“Can I get some water?” I murmur, suddenly feeling claustrophobic and hoping he would let me out of this stuffy office.“Of course.”What I didn’t expect was for him to have a mini fridge in his office. He really meant it when he said he wasn’t letting me out of his sight. From the corner of my eye, I watch him pour water into a glass. He hands it to me without speaking another word.Sipping it silently, I was trying to decide whether I should lob it at his head. For now, I decide against it. He was an Alpha, he would heal in no time and I would just make my life ten times more dif
ZaneIt’s quiet when I turn the water off. I knew she hadn’t left. There was no way out of the bedroom without a key and I had it.As I get closer to the door, I hear the subtle sounds of pencil scratching on paper. She sits at the desk with one leg folded up on the chair, her arm wrapped around it as she concentrates. She had pulled her blonde hair back into a loose bun at the bottom of her neck and seemed oblivious to me watching her.Half the packets of pencils had been torn open, the boxes discarded on the floor along with many of the sketchbooks. Her shoulders aren’t so tense and from here I could see a corner of her lip curved up into a smile. The first natural smile I had seen since I laid my eyes on her. I could see why they wanted big money for her at the auction. I had done since I first laid eyes on her.***Stevens and I had been on our way to a meeting when I caught her scent. It wasn’t like anything I had smelt before. Strong cinnamon and I had to find her. There was no
WillowKeep it together, just keep it together.I keep my gaze on the window, feeling Zanes' dark eyes burn into the back of my head. I remember my dads words from when I was a kid. “If a wolf wants to claim you as a mate. Don’t fight it. It will be the better option.”Don’t fight it? Did he really think I was going to lay down and a let a wolf fuck me through life?Zane hadn’t spoken since he had told me that he wouldn’t let me go. I feel him move around behind me. Each movement echoing in my head, waiting for him to put his hands on me again. This time he doesn’t and when I catch a glimpse of his reflection in the window, he is sitting on the bed pulling on his black Timberlands. Not even bothering to watch me.“I have a meeting.” He mutters, standing up to full height. The black jeans and shirt fit him perfectly. They also made him look as though he could disappear in the dark. But they didn't exactly scream 'meeting'.I turn in the chair to look at him. “You are making me go with
Willow“You needed sleep and it was the only way I could be sure of it.” He mutters, unphased by my reaction. “And,” He adds with a smile, “this way, I knew you couldn’t do something stupid and try to run.”I was speechless. If he thought it was so easy to drug me, then what else was he capable of?My thighs clamp together and his eyes shift to the movement under the comforter. “Don’t worry, little wolf, I haven’t touched you, yet. But one day you will be begging me too.”He moves from the chair revealing a plate of breakfast pastries. I’m not going to lie, they look delicious, but what if he has drugged them too? What if this was his plan to make sure I stay here?“They haven’t been touched.” He mutters, like he could read my mind, which only makes me frown. We could both hear my stomach growling, but still, I stay rooted to the bed. I was used to going without food now and again. The grumbling stomach didn’t bother me, I had heard it much louder than it is now.“Eat.” He moves to an
Willow A distraction. He was trying to stop me from jumping. Dragging me in with his stupid questions. Of course I haven’t figured it out, I wouldn’t have asked him otherwise. I edge forwards, holding on to the window frame as the broken glass slices the soles of my feet. “Willow! Don’t test me.” The words come out in a low growl. I glance back at his onyx eyes. Looking into the black holes that stare back at me. He was showing his anger. He wanted me to see it. A warning that if I do anything stupid, a punishment was coming my way. Being here was already punishment enough. “Get your ass down, NOW!” His patience is running thin. I turn in the window to face him properly. Purposely letting the glass pierce my feet. My warm blood slowly drips from my feet, spreading out all along the windowsill. His eyes move down to my injured feet. I watch him shake his head as he steps to me. Grabbing my hips, he lifts me like I’m nothing more than a feather. Carrying me to the bed, he sits me
ZaneShe is infuriating. If I hadn’t left the room, I may have done something that I would have spent my life regretting.I leave the door unlocked and walk away. If she wanted to run, she could try but I guarantee she won’t make it out of the house before I find her.“Going well?” Stevens asks with a raised brow as I head downstairs. He is sitting in the chair outside my office. “Are you waiting for me?”“There have been some requests made by the warriors.” He holds up a notebook. “Just want to run them past you.”He follows me into the office and starts to close the door. “Leave it open.” If Willow was going to try and make a run for it, I was going to make it as difficult as possible.“She really puts you in a bad mood, doesn’t she?” He smirks at me“It’s the attitude.”“I would never have guessed.” He laughs to himself. “She smashed a window.” I mutter, “and threatened to jump. She didn’t even react when the glass was cutting into her feet, and she was purposely standing on it.
WillowShit. Fuck. Shit.I didn’t have much time. I didn’t even know if I would make it out of the house. I had to try. He left the door open. His mistake.I had nothing other than the clothes on my back and the bandages on my feet, but it doesn’t stop me.Keeping my eyes in front, I refuse to look back. It was clearly the reason I fell in the forest and I wasn’t making that mistake again.Jumping the final few steps, I land painfully on my feet and let out the tiniest whimper when I hear my name roared from upstairs.Making a beeline for the front door, I rip it open, feeling the rush of warm air. Wolves were scattered everywhere and my heart plummets. Somehow, I had forgotten about them. Still, I don’t stop, letting my feet pound the driveway as wolves charge after me.I could feel them, close on my heels. Centimetres away from locking their jaws around my ankles. Though not once do I hear a snap or a snarl. It takes a few more minutes to realise what they are doing. They aren’t ch
