Zane“Is that Addie?” Stevens slows the car and frowns. I look to see Addie leaning against a van, the bonnet popped open, chewing on her nails. A giveaway that she was nervous and also normally a sign that she is concealing information.Willow isn’t here. Her scent continued much further on than where the van is stopped. Whoever it is that Addie is working with, they have split up and the other person has my little wolf.Addies hazel eyes dart between Stevens and I as he stops the car right next to her. Sheer panic written on her face. We were the last people she was expecting to see.“Engine trouble?” I snarl“Don’t be mad.” Addie mutters, holding up her hands to me as I get out of the car. She had chewed her nails so short that blood lingered on her fingertips.“What the fuck are you playing at? Where is Willow?”She curls her hands up into balls and drops them. “I’m really sorry, she didn’t make it.”She didn't really expect me to believe that, did she? I would no if she was dead.

Willow“This idea of yours is stupid! And you are even dumber than I thought if you think Zane is going to fall for it. He knows I'm not dead. He would feel it if I was. WillowMy heart practically falls out of my ass. I guess on some level, I didn’t expect him to find me. ZaneWhen I pull away, her caramel eyes hover on mine and her lips remain parted just a little. She seemed surprised by her own response more than what I had done.Her wide eyes thin to slits. “It doesn’t hurt.” She wiggles her fingers and then her toes. “It doesn’t hurt anymore.” She mutters again and her eyes shift to me. “Because of what you said before? WillowThe light comes in flashes. As I groan I hear Zane tell someone to dim the lights.“Better?” He appears in front of me and I nod.Somehow I had the best night's sleep ever and also the worst. My head ached, everything is bright.“I’m alive?”I hear Zane laugh, “Yes, you’ve just been in a really deep sleep.” His lips press against mine and I push him away. “Bad breath,” I mutter when I see him frown. “Why does my head hurt so much?”“The doctor says that the drugs you were being given can have that effect when they wear off. Give it a day or two and you will feel normal.”“Right.”“You are free to take her home, Zane.” The doctor smiles at me as I stare up at Zane. I wanted to know if he had killed Cara and Addie. The doctor leaves and Zane places some clothes on the bed. “They are still alive.” He tells me without making eye contact.I frown, I didn’t know how I felt about that, I wasn’t even sure if I would be happy they were killed.“You were going to claim Addie.” I speak

WillowI had been back a couple of days and hadn’t asked anymore about Cara or Addie. I had kept myself to myself, spending time in the bedroom drawing, using my art to escape my messy mind. I would answer Zanes' questions, though I would never initiate the conversation. And oddly, he accepted it. He knew he had to wait until I was ready.I pause to look out the window. It’s pouring down and big sheets of lightning shoot across the sky. The weather had been like this the night we left Wintergreen.“Do you think it’s true?” I ask when I hear the door open.
