Forty Five.

Willow

I had been back a couple of days and hadn’t asked anymore about Cara or Addie. I had kept myself to myself, spending time in the bedroom drawing, using my art to escape my messy mind. I would answer Zanes' questions, though I would never initiate the conversation.

And oddly, he accepted it. He knew he had to wait until I was ready.

I pause to look out the window. It’s pouring down and big sheets of lightning shoot across the sky. The weather had been like this the night we left Wintergreen.

“Do you think it’s true?” I ask when I hear the door open. I had been replaying everything Cara had said to me about Wintergreen and even though I had already asked, I couldn’t help wondering if there is some truth to her words.

It takes me a second to realise it’s not Zane that I can smell.

Turning in my chair, I see Stevens. Zane talks to him so he must have an answer too. “Do you think Wintergreen is still thriving?”
