CHAPTER 35

Life has been tough these past few days. I tried to live normally. I really did but the weight of Blaed's death consumed me. I saw him in my dreams. Sometimes he was whole and other times he was headless but I didn't want to see him at all. I wanted to forget that horrific day but it was stuck in my head.

There was no forgetting it. I finished scrubbing the floors and gathered my supplies to go downstairs. I heard someone coming up. Normally, I would run and hide but I didn't move a muscle. I continued going downstairs, not caring a bit if they got upset that I used the stairs the same time they did. The person going up said nothing to me and I dropped the supplies and returned to my small room, curling into a ball and closing my eyes.

Sleep wouldn't come so I just shut the world out. I missed lunch and dinner. I had no desire to eat. My appetite had disappeared also in the last few days. I heard a noise on my door but I ignored it. I heard it again, louder this time and I sat up, a
