Chapter 33

The sound of crying was the worst sound in the world. The wails of sorrow and loss made my eyes tear up and my heart to squeeze. When I heard Mason brake down in front of me in his drunken state I thought my heart broke. But as I heard the cries of the women and children who lost their mates and fathers, my heart shattered.

The mourning ceremony had been hard for me to endure. The three men we had lost when Reece attacked were given a proper funeral before a traditional mourning ceremony. I had spent the entire ordeal clinging on to Brody like my life depended on it. But when the cries of the family hit me I had to bury my head into his side because I just couldn’t watch.

“Alright everyone listen up” Brody yelled around the backyard of the pack house. The pack had collected there after the mourning ceremony for food and drink. At the sound of their Alpha’s voice they all fell silent. Brody stood on the patio stairs outside the back door so everyone could hear him.
