Chapter Hundred and Eight: Healed At Last

DEVYN’S POV

Amidst the overwhelming pain flowing through me, poisoning my veins, and killing my heart, Gina’s voice coming from outside the door was the most unbearable agony. I could hear how she desperately pounded on the door, imagining how wounded her fists were.

Yet, I couldn’t allow her in. She would try to take the pain away from me, not even caring how much it hurt; that was just how selfless she was.

I didn’t want her to suffer for me, because I believed this was what I deserved.

Gritting my teeth against the surging pain, I forced myself to open my eyes. The palms on my chest radiated warmth and I figured they were trying to heal me. My vision blurred as I slipped in and out of consciousness, but I could make out the blonde woman standing in front of me, her eyes reflecting sadness as she gazed at me.

“You sent her out because you don’t want her to suffer,” she muttered, “You’re a good man.”

I would've responded but I couldn’t speak.

If only she knew.
