Chapter Twenty-Seven: Marriage

I woke up to my muscles aching even more than I thought they could and rising from the bed proved challenging, but my hunger fueled my determination. After I was all freshened, I stepped out of my room, greeted by the enticing scent of chicken wafting through the air.

Having Lucia around was truly an underrated blessing.

I breathed it in the scent like it was fresh air and my stomach grumbled loudly.

Devyn was somwhere in the house — I could feel his presence, and I felt my heart flutter at the thought of him.

I hadn’t seen him since I was kidnapped, and as absurd as it sounded, I missed his presence.

Pushing back the thoughts of him at the back my mind, I set forth on my mission to get some food in my stomach. As I made my way downstairs, the familiar voices of Wilona and Liam could be heard as they were discussing. Their conversation sounded heated, piquing my curiosity and I suddenly got the urge to eavesdrop.
