Chapter 27 A cottage

One of the men got out of the van and moved to the back. This time, before removing the kids from the van, he blindfolded them with four pieces of fabric. Sterling could smell the area as soon as he stepped inside. Trees rustling in the wind. He knew they were still in the forest, but it was now colder and moist than it had been before. There were no nearby waterways, and the bird songs were different here.

The blindfolds came off as they were tossed to the ground and heard the lock being locked. There was no mattress for them to lie on, and the room was twice as small as the last one. The smell was awful, and there was a dead rat in the corner of the wall that was starting to decompose.

Lucas approached Sterling and touched his lips, looking at him in amazement.

"Is something wrong?" With a start, Sterling inquired, observing that Noah and Kyler were wearing identical looks of amazement.

"The wound is healed," he uttered in a shaky voice. "It vanished as though it had never been."
