Chapter 58.

Emma and Dave had gone off to see if they could find anything in Vanessas' house. I wasn't even sure if she really lived there or if the house would’ve disappeared as her father had. Magic was fucked up. There were too many ways to mess with someone for me to be comfortable with it.

For now, I had to find some sort of comfort in knowing that Percy would be okay. I couldn't tell whether it was because he was my previous Alpha or our history together that made me care so much. But I didn't want him hurt.

I had to play Damien while they were gone. Whatever he asked or did, I had to just nod my head and obey him. The thought alone disgusted me but I was hoping that it wouldn't show once he was close.

Something tugged inside of me and I felt him. The mark wasn't fully gone yet so it still had some effect.

The door opened up and Damien stepped in. I was sitting on the edge of the bed, holding a book that I pretended to read.

He walked over and got in between my legs. He leaned down,
