Jack POV Kissing Sarah was like a dream. I could not believe I had this amazing woman in my arms. That she had accepted me and wanted to become my mate. Our tongues slid over one another’s tasting and teasing. My hands slid to Sarah’s waist and slowly slid under her shirt feeling her soft skin. I felt her tremble under my touch. I released her mouth moving down to kiss along her jaw and nibble on her ear. She laughed as I tickled her before moving down her neck and latching onto where I would leave my mark. I felt her body move in closer to mine as she moaned her pleasure. Releasing that spot, I move back up and kiss the tip of Sarah’s nose. I ease back, “Sweetheart, are you sure about this? I do not want you to feel rushed because of what is going on,” I say to her. It will kill me if she changes her mind, but I need to know this is what she wants for the right reasons. “Once we are mated, I will never let you go,” I add in a husky voi
Sam POV Spending the night just holding Josie in my arms was incredible. I did not know what the future held but I would fight for having her in my arms every night. When we woke, she was shy, but I simply held her longer and she fell back asleep. Knowing I had an early morning with Miranda, I left her shortly after she fell back asleep sad to leave her. I was walking out of Josie’s room when I saw Jack sneaking out of his room. We looked at one another and smiled. “Who would have thought we would be sneaking out of rooms together?” I teased him. “I am not sneaking out, I am going to get food for my Queen,” Jack says excitedly. I happen to notice he is sporting a new mark this morning. I feel a twinge of jealousy but quickly let it go. I was happy for Jack and Sarah. “So, you both decided to take the plunge?” I ask as we walk down the steps together. “Sure did,” Jack replies smugly. “I think I am the luckiest guy alive, Sam,” Jack adds
Sam POV Pulling my chair around my desk again, I wait for Miranda and Sarah to determine where they wanted to sit. Rick took the couch toward the door of my office. Miranda and Sarah sat in the chairs in front of me. I took my seat feeling a little anxious at how things would go today. Yesterday had been rough, I did not know what to expect today. Miranda put her hand on my knee, “Just relax Sam. Today will be a bit more challenging as we get further into the webs of the spell,” she says to me. “Great,” I say with less humour than I had intended to share. Clearing her throat, Sarah says, “Thank you for letting me sit in on this, Sam.”. “No problem, Sarah; I am being a little selfish. I am counting on you learning fast so you can help protect the Pack and yourself,” I say with a chuckle. She smiles understanding that part of my reply is shrouded in my nerves. “Alright, Sarah you need to take a few deep breaths. You will not be able to s
Josie POV Startled I pulled back only to feel instant regret. I did not want to cause Sam more pain, but I slowly realize he is smiling at me. And he did not grab his head in agony as he did last time. I slowly smile back at him; suddenly hyper aware we have an audience. Breaking my stare with Sam, I look around the room at everyone with a glare. Miranda is smiling. Rick is more pensive of the situation. Jack and Sarah are smiling like idiots. I shake my head as I consider what this could mean. I knew I had to still have the spell removed from me or whatever was going on, but did this mean we had a chance? I look back at Sam who is still smiling at me as he nods, “Yes, we might have a chance.”. I was embarrassed, I had not realized I had said the last part out loud. Standing, I realized I need air. I had never been given a chance before – I felt like I was starting to hyperventilate. “I need to go,” I say to everyone who looked at me c
Sam POV I had awoken to Josie being gone. She must have gotten up a while ago as her side of the bed was cold. Looking at the clock I realize that Elder Morris should be arriving within the hour. I was not sure how he would arrive – either the normal way or Miranda’s way. Stopping in the washroom, I quickly head down to the dining hall. I suspected that is where I would find Josie. As I walk through the door, I see her look up and I see a glimmer of a smile from her. I know she still is not overly trusting of anyone, but she is worth the effort to me. I walk over and brush a kiss on the top of her head before I sit down. Reaching under the table, I squeeze her knee and smile at her before I start to put food on my plate. I can tell I have startled her, but I welcome the chance to keep her on her toes. She settles in beside me and continues to eat while I start eating. I look over at Jenna and Adam who are both grinning at me. I am sure my face went a little re
Josie POV My heart sinks when Elder Morris says one of us has to die to determine if we can get a second chance. I knew what he meant. We would die and then when we came back, assuming we came back, we would be able to determine if we were second chance mates. I hated to think of a life without Sam and I hate myself for rejecting him in the first place. I hear the chatter around me, but I am consumed in my thoughts. Something occurs to me, “What about the spells?” I say quietly. “What spells?” Elder Morris asks. “We are both affected by spells. Sam’s is removed but I still have a spell wrapped around me; or rather I hope it is a spell,” I say looking to Miranda. Miranda nods, “You do. It is a complex one and one I will work on with Sarah to break down,” she replies. “Hmmm. Well, we have never encountered two wolfs affected by spells before. Maybe, just maybe, the Moon Goddess will give you a break,” Elder Morris muses as he considers th
Miranda POV “Again Sarah,” I demand of her. She is getting tired, but she needs to be focused and strong by the time I leave in a few days. I have to get home to my own pup. I miss him terribly when I am away. I do not go very often but when I do, I am increasingly homesick. Fortunately, Alpha Jared allows Rick to travel with me when I am on a special case. Rick is Beta of the Black Shadow Pack and has his own duties to attend to. In this case, it is definitely special. But Sarah is up to the demands that will be placed on her. I have woven intricate spells that are signatures of some of the greatest and strongest witches and warlocks. Having worked for the Witches Council at a young age, I have first-hand experience with some of the best and the worst our species has to offer. More so the worst, I contemplate as I consider the years I have put into fighting against evil. Sarah is getting faster at unthreading spells and even faster at setting them
Josie POV I had no idea what to wear. Everything I had was jeans, tank tops and leather jackets. I felt like this date I should try to be a little different. Not that Sam would care one way or the other. I understood he likes me just the way I am. Sounds corny but it means the world to me. Nobody has ever cared about me and now I have two people who care. Sam and Jenna. Jenna was a surprise. I admit I still had my days of bitterness that she had our mother, and I did not. But then I would remind myself of the circumstances that surrounded my mother giving birth to Eric and me. In her shoes, I suspect I would have felt the same and wanted nothing to do with the offspring of that monster, my father. Deciding to ask Jenna for some help, I stop by her office and knock on the door. She calls me to come in and I walk in to see her and Sarah sitting there talking. Both quietened down when I walked in. “I am sorry, I will come back later,”
