After Titus and Marcus got to know some of the families we all headed to the dining hall to have dinner together.

I felt comfort sitting beside Titus at the Alpha’s table, but I had already been sitting here all week, even when Titus wasn’t present. The empty head table gave me an odd feeling, yet now it feels comfortable to be seated next to my mate.

Looking out and around the dining hall. Hearing the laughter of the children and their parents makes me realise that even when faced with so much death and uncertainty, as they have been. The slightest bit of comfort can make them forget about what had happened. Even if only for a short time.

Smiling to myself, I watch as a few rogue children run around playing; they feel safe and at home and that is what I wanted to do for them. To give them and their parents that sense of safety, most packs would have turned them all away and left them to be slaughtered.
