Chapter Sixty-Two

Dad's bombshell about the Stevensons left me feeling down. After breakfast, I retreated to my room, curled up in a ball, and pondered how to deal with everything.

My emotions were all over the place thinking about Josh, our relationship, and the whole complicated situation.

Just as I was lost in my thoughts, my phone rang, snapping me out of my contemplation. I wasn't really in the mood to talk, but Josh's persistent calls made it impossible to ignore.

Reluctantly, I answered, and his "hello" sent shivers down my spine. There's something about his voice that stirs up indescribable feelings.

I scolded myself for being lost in my thoughts and mustered a less-than-cheerful "hello." True to form, Josh picked up on my subdued tone.

"What's wrong, babe?" he asked, his voice oozing concern.

I hesitated, torn between wanting to share Dad's revelation and deciding against it.

"I...I am fine," I stuttered, feeling the conflict of emotions.

"You don't sound fine. What's bothering you?" he probe
