Chapter Sixty

"Good evening, ma. Mr. Joshua Stevenson requests that I drive you to him." The atmosphere shifted, and a sense of anticipation settled in, bringing a mix of curiosity and wonder.

Surprised by the message, I caught Ava's puzzled glance. Just to clear things up, Josh and I haven't been talking much lately. Every call ends with him saying he's busy.

I wasn't sure how to feel about him sending someone for me. Lost in thought, Ava nudged me, prompting me to ask, "Sorry, who are you?" My phone rang, and I picked it up. "Oh, it's Josh," I said, placing it to my ear. His deep, smooth voice came through, but I couldn't help giving the guy who came for me a skeptical look. The air was thick with a mixture of uncertainty and cautious curiosity.

Josh's voice, a comforting melody, echoed in my ear, but uncertainty lingered, clouding my thoughts.

"Hello," I greeted.

"Hey, baby, I sent a car to bring you," Josh replied.

Feeling a tad moody, I replied, "I can drive myself, you know."
