Chapter Thirty Two

"Immediately I heard his name, I let out a cough. I'm in for some real trouble," I thought to myself.

He looked at me with concern as I coughed, patted my back gently, and said, "Sorry."

Then he asked, "Are you okay?" looking at me worried.

"I'm fine, just a little tickle in my throat," I cleared my throat again while nodding and trying to be calm, I said with a smile.

He seemed to believe me, but I was uneasy. I have to be cautious now that I know Josh knows Nolan, based on my past encounter with him.

We continued our conversation, but I tried not to bring up Nolan or the new company making waves again.

"Thank you," he said.

"For what?" I asked him, looking at him surprised.

"Harper, I'm glad you agreed to be my date for the party," he said sincerely as he looked into my eyes.

Returning his smile, I said, "I wouldn't miss it for anything, Josh."

After a while, we left the restaurant, he drove me to my house.
