Chapter 12. Objective

In the morning, Ava had her gaze lost in some fixed point of the cappuccino machine that had been installed weeks ago in the employee cafeteria of the hotel, the beep of the same device made her come out of her thoughts for a moment, she removed the glass and turned to look for a free table where to drink it before going up to the main office and start the workday. That morning she tried to apply a little make-up under her eyes to avoid showing the lines that were easily formed by not having a good rest.

"Where could she have gone at that hour?" she mentally asked herself. The image of Christine made her lips press together, "That woman..." she denied as she closed her eyes. When she opened them, Thomas, Björn's head of security, was entering the cafeteria -it was her, and two tables at the back of the place were occupied with waitresses- their gazes met, Thomas walked up to her.

-Good morning, Miss Gray. Ava smiled half-heartedly.
