Bianca's pov
As the blood spilled out of his mouth and dripped onto my white shirt due to the glass puncturing his lungs through his back, the words he had told me before the accident resounded in my brain.
"Knowledge is power, Bianca. Did you know that?" He had asked softly.
I looked at him and smiled. His gray hair was balding in the middle of his head but that didn't stop him from thinking so much, and saying 'wise' words out of nowhere.
"Of course, Grandpa." I rolled my eyes, "That sentence has been thrown around quite a bit, don't you agree?"
"That's the problem, my lovely girl. Just because a phrase is popular, people undermine its value and that's exactly what makes them miss out."
As his lips paled due to the eerie amount of blood he was losing, he stared down at me, distinction bold in his brown gaze. And as the car came crashing down the cliff, I felt his grip around my body tighten while I closed my eyes and held back a loud piercing scream. I was shaking horribly and I couldn't contain my scream any longer as we were trashed around in the vehicle.
The speed of the car became faster as it scratched against the side of the cliff before throwing us down to the ground.
The car tossed and tossed, but my grandfather's grip on my body remained firm, even as the car crashed into a bulky tree.
For a moment, everything went black and the only thing that surrounded my senses was the protruding smell of blood.

When I woke up, I was aware of the body that was limp on top of mine, especially the large amount of blood that had bled out from him and soaked onto my shirt.
"Grandpa," I muttered, understanding that he was dead. His once firm hands were cold against my body, making me shiver lightly. And his eyes… once jovial and filled with light was now hollow. In the driver's seat, I could see the driver's neck half haphazardly dancing out the window. The sight frightened me and it made me look down at my body to determine what part of me was detached or broken but I realized that there was none. Apart from how sore my legs and arms were, I was well. Grandfather had protected me.
My survival instincts kicked in and I slightly loosened my grandfather's grip on mine and somehow crawled out of the car through the now-extinct glass window.
My lungs hungrily breathed in fresh air and my body ached for rest, but my mind was frantic, even as I laid on the green grass and stared up at the sky, right in the middle of nowhere. My thoughts reminded me of the point that led us here.
I'd been watching my favorite boy band at my apartment when my grandfather suddenly appeared and told me to join him for a morning ride. I'd put on a plain t-shirt and a pair of pants, and joined him in his affairs, only to discover that he tricked me to go with him to a conference hall that was stacked with a hundred media-related personnel. I didn't take it seriously because my grandfather was always meaning to take me everywhere with him. But unexpectedly, he made an announcement that shook the world's structure in business, and threw me off my feet. He announced I, Bianca Maria Rossi as his heir and gave me everything he owned, publicly.
When we left the conference room, I had asked him why he did that because I knew my stepfather was his son, the one that had been pining over gaining his inheritance for a long time, but instead I was chosen.
Without answering my question, my grandfather had given me a file and asked me to view it at the right time.
Who would have thought that the right time would be now?
I desperately reached into the car for the file that seemed to be ruffled up a little, and flipped through the contents inside.
However, things only got worse the more I flipped through the pages which made me drop onto the ground in shock.
Apparently, my stepfather married my mother for her properties but when she wouldn't give it to him, he poisoned her which caused her death. And currently, it was under work that my late mother's landed properties were transferred to him.
Also, my stepfather had attempted to kill me once.
It was at the time that I was reckless at eighteen and went to a club. My drink had been laced by someone my stepdad hired but somehow, I didn't remember being taken advantage of, and harmed.
On the last page of the file was a young man's profile, and he seemed quite rich. His photograph was taken in a black and white theme so I couldn't see his features clearly.
His name was Carlisle Smith and he was 31 years old, his zodiac sign was Aquarius and most importantly, he was the owner and co-owner of many successful pharmaceutical companies In the world. I didn't know why his profile was in the file but it was unimportant right now.
The truth about the man I regarded as my father was much more astounding, and I didn't have any doubt that he might be responsible for the accident that happened.
I could still remember the faint cry of the driver as he complained about not being able to control the brakes.
A brake failure right after I was announced as the heir to my grandfather's multi-million dollar company was just too suspicious. No matter who was at the bottom of this, I wouldn't let it go. Especially not my 'so-called' father!
From the tousled car, I was able to find my grandfather's phone even though the screen was cracked. I called my father's most trusted aide, Dean, and told him what happened and said he would come to me by tracing the location of the phone.
I sat there on the cold grass, feeling myself soaked in feelings of inadequacy as I realized that only I, the most incompetent of the two men in the car, survived.
Bianca's pov"Miss!"My eyes fluttered open when I heard a voice, along with a firm grip on my shoulder that shook me awake. When I saw that it was Dean, I felt an overwhelming sense of relief which made my eyes water."Dean," I stood up from the ground, whilst aware of my own weak legs. "My grandfather…"I looked behind Dean and saw the masses of helpers that were cleaning up the scene. My grandfather and the driver's body were now nowhere in sight."Unfortunately, the chairman passed away, as well as the driver. I'm sure you know that by now." Dean said sympathetically.I nodded and averted my gaze to the ground. Now that someone else was telling me what had happened, it made me feel weak and jelly inside, especially when I remembered how clearly my grandfather had protected me with his body when clearly I didn't deserve it. I was his grandchild! I was the one that was supposed to be agile and quick to save him, but I was useless, utterly useless!I swallowed under the impending gaz
"Leah, are we there yet?""Just hang on a bit longer, signorina." I sighed and leaned back on my seat in the black Ford jeep. Newsflash, Leah could speak Italian. My eyebrows furrowed and I clenched my fists as the aching of the past overwhelmed me all of a sudden. I looked out the window and the chilly air tousled my hair back, making me feel a little bit better. We had just got off the plane to Rome thirty minutes ago and we had been driving ever since, but that was too long in my opinion and Leah was convincing me to be patient but I knew I wouldn't. At least, not for long. The driver took a turn and Leah exhaled as she typed away on her tablet. Perhaps our destination was very close?"Leah," Just as I spoke, the driver pulled over in front of a tall gate."We're here, miss."I unlocked the door and pushed it open. I could see only the perch of a light blue roof beyond the gate. I wondered what more it would hold.Leah exchanged words with the driver in Italian and collected the
Bianca's povDominant sea blue eyes, clean shaven face, and the perfect amount of black shiny waves dancing over his face. His suit was sleek and stylish but I hadn't taken note of that before because of my desperation to use him to enter the club. But I saw my mistake now. My eyes opaquely discovered his Oxford black shoes that glistened under the bright club security lights. He tucked his hands in his pocket, his face unassuming as he scouted me with his curious bright eyes. Then he turned back to the security guards and they started exchanging words in Italian. I could only stare at him in wonder. This man was perfect! And he had a confidence that roared in his body language in a precise, daunting manner. There was no doubt that a man like this would be proud! Especially with the stare and expression his face naturally held. With a face like that, I truly understood why he would reject me without a care in the world and this infuriated me.So what if he was handsome, that didn't gi
"So he was kissing another woman?!" Leah looked astounded by the news and I didn't know how to respond."Yes," I said dryly."And you still want to pursue him?"I sighed and turned to Leah with crossed arms, "Do I have a choice?"Leah looked at me, her eyes glooming with sympathy. I hate sympathy."No," I pointed a finger at her, "Don't look at me that way if you can help it."Leah caught herself quickly and bowed her head, "Sorry.""Whatever. I'm going to try and figure out if Bennett Adams has something deep with that chic or if she's just a fling.""Right.""So stay in position and only watch from afar. Remember, don't drink!"Without waiting for a response, I strutted off, smiling at the men that looked my way. I stylishly scanned the room for Bennett and I spotted him walking out the club with a bunch of grown men. The woman he had been with on the other hand stood by the corner looking dejected. I did not know what might have happened between them but I sure as hell saw opportun
“So what would you have us do now sir” Leah asked, her eyes staring suspiciously at the man driving“I’ll have you do nothing than to follow me and let me get the bullet out of her arm , she’s going to die soon if not treated fast” the man said, swerving to his right direction."Huh?... Are you a medical practitioner?" Leah asked.."Damn, do I need to be a doc to save a life?" He fired back"Yeah, because I can't imagine someone who isn't in the medical field to endanger her life.. she's so..""Alright..alright, I'll get my doctor friend for you" He answered, reassuring them“But I told you I can ... .... Ahhh” Bianca mellowed, holding the arm where she was shot.Leah tried to get another rag that she can use to wrap her arms since the other one was soaked with her blood already.“You can have this” the man said, passing his face towel to the duo at the back seat “Don’t just look at me like that, just do what you have to do and save her life” he said to Leah who still stared at him.“
“Please Mister, can you marry me ?”“Huh Mister” Carl muttered, surprised at her expression of him .. “Hmmn, do you mean him?” he asked, pointing to Kelvin.“Nope, I mean you ... I need you to get me engaged please” she said, almost in tears.Carlisle could see the affection with which she spoke and he could swear he had not seen such affection in a ladies eye before. There was something about her that he couldn’t lay hands on yet but he was really drawn to her.“Now, you two have to conclude before the chemical in the bullet spreads” Kelvin said, cutting through their thoughts.“Please, do this for me... I really need to” Bianca pleaded. It took the glint on Bianca’s eyes for Carl to nod his head to her request... “Alright I’ve agreed, let’s just get this stuck shit out of your arms firstly” Carl said, trying to divert their attention.“No, I really need you and I need you to be serious with this” Bianca said, meaning every word she said.“Yeah, I’m serious also. I promise with my n
“Carlisle Smith ! !” a soft voice called. The duo turned back to see who it was...“Hey, You.. What are you doing here, aren’t you supposed to look over your friend” Carl said ...“Yeah, I just decided to take a stroll around the house really.. You know, you have a fine house” Leah said, as the surprised Carl turned to look at Kelvin who didn’t budge.“Yeah, thank you. I appreciate it, so is your friend awake now? "he asked.“Not yet, but her temperature is kinda hot, too hot” Leah bellowed.“Hot temperature? What the fuck” Carl cursed as he stood on his feet alongside Kelvin to check on her.Leah on the other hand gave a slight chuckle as she forced herself to keep her forth coming laughter to her self, she was only playing pranks on Carl so as to see his reaction but it seems he fell for it.“But I thought the medics ought to ease her of any temperature” Carl said, turning to Kelvin as he proceeded towards the living room.“Yeah, that’s why I’m somewhat surprised also.” Kelvin shrug
Chapter NineIf I really can’t get Bianca to submit those files, that motherfucker could actually go hurt her. I really have to act fast” those were the words Linda overheard her husband saying as he dressed up for work.Dean was surprised when he turned his back only to meet Linda staring coldly at him, he took a deep bre ath as he proceeded towards her, he already knew she had heard his words.“it would all be fine darling” Dean muttered as he held her by the shoulders.“Fine?” She asked,“Yes baby, I believe if we...”“Don’t just tell me it would be fine” Linda cut in... “Both of us know how deadly Alex is and how far he can go too to get his will done, he would stop at nothing till he breathed on our graves” Linda said, almost in tears.“Relax Linda, Relax. I’m actually putting some things in place, he really can’t do anything to us. We just need to play our cards right, he is not really dumb” Dean said, sounding convincing but Linda wouldn’t budge.“Listen Dean, I really don’t kn
