Chapter Twenty Six

Stacy drove back home with her face etched with lines of worry and fatigue, which reflected the weight of the conflicting emotions that had been in her head since she left Carlton's house. She had been so bothered too about what she was sure she heard her heart do. Her mind traveled back to the fleeting moment that momentarily occurred between them and almost caused her peace.

Time seemed to slow as they leaned closer in the water, with their lips mere inches apart, and eyes locked while searching for answers from each other. And just as the unthinkable might have just happened, Stacy called Carlton's name so sharply before he made the move of violating the theory of the doctor-patient session.

"Mr. Howard? Can you move….." Stacy tried to catch her breath as she spoke slowly, "Can you move your feet? You seem not to be propelling as I asked you to?" She had switched the conversation so abruptly and suddenly, that someone who was passing at the moment would never have had the slighte
