Chapter 51

The dining room was already abuzz with laughter when Chan and Sam entered, and Chan wondered what the topic of their hot gossip was that had led to so much amusement. She noticed that Lilly, too, was grinning away happily. Perhaps Soriya had already apologized to the little girl.

Sam went over and gave his daughter a little kiss on the forehead. “Sounds like you’re having fun.”

“Daddy!” Lilly said. “Soriya was telling us a joke, and it’s so funny.”

Chan asked, “Has she apologized to you yet, Lilly?”

Lilly nodded. “She did.”

Soriya sighed. “I can’t believe I have to apologize to a little girl, and right in front of Marian, too, the woman who I admire so much for being such an excellent cook. I am so embarrassed.”

Dara said, “If you don’t want to embarrass yourself and have to apologize to a kid, then you shouldn’t have hurt her feelings in the first place.”

“I know. I know. Now please stop teasing me about it,” Soriya muttered.
